Dr. Holder’s Comments on Anti-Aging
Anti-Aging (35 and up)
I take this personally, as I am smack in the middle of this demographic. I have been practicing dermatology for over twenty years and the time has sped by so quickly. Yes, we should embrace the chronological number, but with our advanced technology, we don’t have to have our grandmother’s skin.
Science behind the aging process: As our numbers go up, inversely, collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid decline. Damage to the epidermis, our skin barrier, is exponentially related to various intrinsic and extrinsic factors including sun exposure, genetics, chemical exposures (e.g. smoking and alcohol use), gravity, and poor nutrition. Simultaneously, as we age, we experience bone shifting and the redistribution of fat. This science translates to the emergence of physical signs. Some physical signs include the appearance of dull, lack-luster skin, sunspots, fine lines and wrinkles, keratoses, skin tags, and facial capillaries and veins. Volume loss in facial compartments, including laugh lines, puppet lines (marionette lines), lip lines, and shrunken lips become visible. Other signs of aging include a crepey neck, décolleté, and hands as well as puffy eyes. Loss of elastin leads to the loss of elasticity, resulting in the appearance of jowls, deep, horizontal lines in the neck, and sagging throughout the body. Stubborn fat pads in specific compartments emerge.
My goal was to counter the above signs of aging by obtaining state of the art technologies and putting Brooklyn at the forefront of new dermatological innovation. At Park Slope Dermatology, we will address these changes not only on the face but on the entire body. Our Medi-spa, a medical grade spa that includes clinically relevant treatments for dermatological conditions, is now up and running. The estheticians working with me focus on the entire you, offering body resurfacing and body contouring techniques to help everyone age gracefully. We have a comprehensive and innovative approach that couples dermatology with experts in nutrition, health, and fitness. This approach centers on prevention and reversing signs of aging. The outcome is brilliant, firm, flawless, healthy skin. Take a dip in our fountain of youth and walk through the decades with ageless skin.
So I’ve been seeing Dr Holder for years. I was just in a show with a bunch of 20-26 year olds. When they found out my age they were SHOCKED I was much older than they were! My skin looked so good they thought I was their age!
The doctor is so nice and the results are FANTASTIC! I got botox in my armpits (which is really hard to find someone who does this). The doctor explained everything to me beforehand, and numbed the area beforehand, which helped so much. I felt nothing during the procedure and it lasted for 7 months!!!! Love her and I’m going back very soon.

A solar lentigo is a harmless patch of darkened skin. It results from exposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation, which causes local proliferation of melanocytes and accumulation of melanin within the skin cells (keratinocytes). Solar lentigos or lentigines are very common, especially in people over the age of 40 years. Sometimes they are also known as an “old age spot” or “senile freckle.”
At Park Slope Dermatology, we use Excel V to target these spots, and as proven by our clinical before and after photographs, this treatment is very effective.
Our in-house products feature gold-standard anti-aging ingredients such as peptides, vitamin C, hyaluronic acid, and retinols to keep you hydrated & reverse the intrinsic & extrinsic signs of aging.
