Body Scrub/Wrap
At Park Slope Dermatology, our body scrub is a body treatment involving the application of Dr. Holder’s recommended skin/body care products that exfoliate your entire body, from the neck down. You are then wrapped in hot towels, followed by relaxing aromatherapy, a hot stone massage, and finished with moisturizing serums and lotion to soothe the skin.
Our signature ingredient in our body scrub is lemongrass, also known as fever grass. Recent studies confirm that fever grass has antioxidant, antibacterial, anti-cancer, and antifungal properties. Therefore, our fever grass body scrub is a relaxing spa experience with abundant health benefits.
Chemical Peels
A chemical peel for your body is a procedure in which a chemical solution is applied to the skin to gently exfoliate the dead layers of skin which cause it to have a lackluster, rough appearance. A chemical peel can improve color, texture, and tone of the skin. A series of peels, done over weeks and/or months, along with a daily skin care regimen, result in skin exfoliation and create a more youthful appearance to your skin.
At Park Slope Dermatology, our peels are medically graded. We incorporate glycolic acid and salicylic acid to achieve outstanding results. The outcome is a youthful, smooth, even-toned, and brilliant appearance. We also combine the procedure with our sauna therapy to facilitate the exfoliation of dead skin and purging of pores, which helps to improve some conditions such as folliculitis and keratosis pilaris. Demographics that may benefit from the exfoliation of dry skin include pregnant, perimenopausal, and postmenopausal women.
Hot Stone Massage
A hot stone massage is a type of massage therapy used to help you relax and ease tensed muscles and/or damaged soft tissues throughout your body. This is a great way to relax your body, muscles, and mind and destress with hot stones massaging your back. Heat application is recommended as a method of treating achy muscles. Applying heat to an area of the body helps increase blood flow to that spot which improves healing. Lastly, the oils used (e.g. safflower oil), during the massage help to repair the skin’s natural barrier, thereby locking in hydration and creating more youthful skin.
Sauna
Our sauna has many benefits to your skin and well-being. A sauna session is very beneficial for detoxification of your skin and offers anti-aging benefits. Sauna sessions are also beneficial for increasing your metabolism, promoting weight loss, and reducing muscle pain, joint pain, and stress. Saunas can be used to treat dermatological conditions such as folliculitis, psoriasis, and dry skin, including during pregnancy and in perimenopausal and postmenopausal women.
Cosmeceuticals
Our in-house products feature gold-standard anti-aging ingredients such as peptides, vitamin C, hyaluronic acid, and retinols to keep you hydrated & reverse the intrinsic & extrinsic signs of aging.
